Past Programs
- Jobs Placement Program (JP - Destinations): This employment-focused program provided pre-employment skills, life skills and job placement services and was delivered for industry and the BC Provincial Government under the name of Destinations.
- Training for Jobs Program (TFJ): This program was focused on construction skills training, but also offered a series of comprehensive life skills workshops that addressed the needs of a multi-barriered client group. Job placement was also a key part of this program which was delivered under the name of HardHats for industry and the BC Provincial Government.
- Workplace-Based Training Program (WBT): The primary goal of WBT, which we delivered on behalf of the (then) Ministry of Employment, Skills and Training, was to improve the employment prospects of BC Benefits Youth Works and Welfare to Work clients. This goal was achieved by providing employment opportunities that included on-the-job/workplace training. WBT clients had to be on income assistance for at least seven months and be ready to make the transition to work. A further goal of WBT was to upgrade the work-related skills of the existing workforce and to contribute to a training culture in industry.
- Empowered to Work Project: Similar to the Training for Jobs program, this project was focused on skills training, but also placed equal importance on one-on-one mentoring. Participants were provided with pre-employment skills training and job placement services. This program was delivered for the BC Provincial Government under the name HardHats Employment and Mentoring Program for Women Entering the Trades.
- Aboriginal Careers in Tourism: GT Hiring Solutions joined forces with the Aboriginal Community Career and Employment Services Society (ACCESS) to develop this program to assist First Nations to train for and obtain employment in the tourism industry. This program involved working with a demographic group that faces unique challenges to finding and maintaining employment. Participants were provided with intensive one-on-one counseling, life skills workshops, job placement services and mentoring support.
- Tourism Careers for Youth: This program was part of the Youth Internship Canada Initiative to provide the training and career planning needed by young people for a structured transition from school to the tourism workplace. It was a national program funded by HRSDC and the (then) BC Ministry of Social Development and Economic Security. The program serviced BC youth aged 18 to 29, who were unemployed, underemployed or on Income Assistance.
- At Risk Youth: GT Hiring Solutions has delivered 12-week programs that included employability enhancement (life skills), directed labour market research, and skills training services, to at risk youth who were referred by federally-funded Employment Assistance Services (EAS) under the Skills Link funding envelope.
